School-gen has today announced the top five schools in its ‘Energising Young Minds’ competition.

685 schools entered the competition and after nearly two months of collecting votes and support from their local communities, the top five finalists (based on normalised voting – votes divided by the school role) are:

“It was a real pleasure to be the bearer of good news today! All the schools were incredibly stoked to be in the final five, and are so grateful to their local communities for getting in behind them,” says Genesis School-gen and Sustainability Manager, Jessica Rodger.

The top five schools now have some extra work to do and a few weeks to wait until the winners of the $25K, $15K and $10K prizes are announced on 30 April.

“From here, we’ve asked the schools to give us some information about their need, passion and potential for teaching science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), and our panel of judges will choose the winners based on the information provided.”

The response to the competition has exceeded expectations says Jessica, “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved. From those who nominated, to those who voted, to the schools who participated and all the students, teachers, friends and families who got behind their local schools – you guys are awesome and we hope you keep engaging with School-gen.”

The School-gen team are already planning their next competition, so watch this space.
