Eastern Hutt School - Lower Hutt - 2 kw

Eastern Hutt School is very proud to be involved in the Schoolgen Project. We are a large school in the heart of Hutt City and have a major focus on the environment and education for sustainability. Our solar panels were installed in 2009 and since then we have had an active Solar Kids group.

We are an Enviroschool and gained our Silver Award in 2011. We continue to promote sustainability initiatives throughout our school and wider community. Here at Eastern Hutt School we recycle plastic, glass and paper. The school promotes plastic-free lunchboxes, and manages a garden for each class where they grow vegetables; compost food scraps or otherwise put them in the worm farm. The Enviro Warriors team undertakes projects to care for and enhance our school environment.

At Eastern Hutt School we aim to take every opportunity to teach our students the importance of caring for the environment so future generations can continue to enjoy our natural environment.
