Milford School- Auckland 18.7 kW

Milford School is situated beside Lake Pupuke on Auckland’s North Shore.

There are over 500 pupils on the roll in 21 classrooms. We are already a Silver Enviroschool and sustainable energy was the next step for us.
In 2015 Milford School was fortunate to have a large (18.7 kilowatt) photovoltaic array installed. With 72 solar pv panels we are one of the largest school solar arrays in the country. This helps power all electrical devices in the school during the day, and since we have such a large array of solar panels we also export to the grid at times of lower demand in the school.
We are excited to be part of the Schoolgen programme. We have been learning about the electricity usage in our school and how we can save power. Our energy detectives have been visiting classrooms and checking up on how energy-wise our children AND staff have been.
