Vauxhall School - 15 kW

Vauxhall School is proud to be working in conjunction with Genesis Energy under the Schoolgen project to install the largest solar array of any school in the North Island, and the equal largest to be retrofitted to an established school in New Zealand – 15 kilowatts (kW).

This will provide enough energy to power the school on most days. Our investment in solar energy is part of our board's commitment to sustainability. The Board views environmental sustainability as a key part of the strategic direction of the school.

With the support of Genesis Energy, our investment in solar energy enables our children to be involved in the solution to become more self sufficient. The panels will mean children can see the online, real time power generation, usage and savings the school is making.

We will use this information to create authentic learning experiences across many curriculum areas for the children. Sustainability will become even more of an everyday part of life for children at Vauxhall School.

Along with our upgraded internal classrooms Vauxhall School is now leading the way with Modern Learning Environments and Environmental Sustainability.

The solar array is now live and generating ample amounts of renewable electricity from sunlight !
