Wadestown School - Wellington City - 2 kw

Wadestown School is very excited about being part of the Genesis Energy Schoolgen project! Our school is in a Wellington suburb, close to the central city. It is a very hilly suburb and our school is spread over four different levels. Our school logo shows exactly what it is like!

Another interesting thing about our school is that it is spread over two sites. The Year 1-2 classes are at the Side School which is one kilometre from the Main School. The Main School has classes from Year 2-8. Altogether we have about 300 students and in 2011 we recently celebrated the 130th anniversary of the school.

The Schoolgen project fits neatly with other school environmental and recycling initiatives. For many years we have recycled our waste paper and have involved parents in planting native trees and shrubs to help reduce our carbon footprint.

Our Solar Squad team members are ambassadors for sustainable, renewable energies and energy efficiency, promoting information in class, on our school website as well as in school newsletters and assemblies and to the wider community.

The Schoolgen work offers our students an opportunity to gain insights into the changing technologies which will be necessary to better manage their futures.

We are looking forward to learning more about environmental issues and it's great that Schoolgen will be a major part of that project.
